Oxford University Press Southern Africa's dictionary publishing programme is completely up to date with the changes in South African English, as well as the requirements of the school curriculum. The programme started in 1978 and has grown significantly since then.

Some important recent milestones include the publication of the South African Oxford Secondary School Dictionary (in June 2006), and the Oxford Afrikaans-Engels English-Afrikaans Skoolwoordeboek School Dictionary, published in January 2007.
