Eddie was preparing for what to him was going to be the worst summer ever until he visits the “Wookey Hole Caves”. At these caves he meets a girl who is very comfortable in the darkness of the caves and they are her playground. She seems very interested in Eddies’ home life, yet he knows nothing hers as she is reluctant to tell him at first. She convinces him to follow her and enjoy the caves as a playground as well, but what will he find lurking in the darkness? Why won’t the girl come into the sunlight? Why is she so pale? She also appears out of no-where which really freaks him out a bit.
Dark Summer is a compelling story that keeps you hooked throughout the book as you don’t know what to expect next. It is full of unexpected changes and turns and it always kept the suspense up.
It really isn’t what you expect. Reading is believing!
I recommend it from the age of 11 and up. Although an entertaining read for an older age group as well.
