Forthcoming playscript nominated for three Fleur du Cap awards – wins Best Supporting Actress!

Nadia David's moving play Cissie, about District Six icon and activist Cissie Gool, was nominated for three Fleur du Cap awards (for best new South African play; plus two nominations in the best supporting actress category). On Sunday 8 March 2009, Quanita Adams was awarded the best supporting actress award for her multiple roles in Cissie!

The play was performed to full houses at the National Arts Festival in 2008, and later played at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town. Oxford University Press Southern Africa will publish the playscript later this year in an edition designed for use at schools.
